Introduction
Cyclone Manual - Introduction
Cyclone is a powerful tool for visualising and parametrising Monte Carlo N-Particle Version 6 (MCNP6) \1\ input files, offering a broad set of features to streamline simulation preparation and analysis. It allows the user to create and download MCNP files complete with a run script, enabling consistent and efficient setup of cases. Models can be examined in both 2D and 3D, providing a clear and detailed understanding of the geometry.
As Cyclone is a tool for MCNP, it is expected that the user of Cyclone will have sufficient experience in using MCNP. This user guide features terminology and keywords from MCNP, which is represented in the following style BOLD. For more information on any of this terminology please see the MCNP user guide [1].
Note, Cyclone software does not include MCNP, and it is for the user to ensure they have a valid MCNP licence and install compatible with Cyclone.
The 3D viewer supports FMESH data from HDF5, CSV, and ASCII, or binary FMESH files, and can plot results directly on the geometry. In addition to FMESH, Cyclone can visualise PTRAC data, standard tallies, DXTRAN spheres, KSRC points, and MESH lines. The user can create slices through the geometry for detailed inspection, and adjust the view style to colour by materials, cells, importances, universes, or densities, making it easier to interpret complex models.
Cyclone also supports overlaying Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models onto input geometry, enabling direct comparison between imported designs and the MCNP representation. This manual provides a complete guide to Cyclone’s capabilities, ensuring the user can take full advantage of its tools in their simulation workflow.
